AFC has championed the cause of quality childcare and early education for families and children throughout Illinois for 46 years. Illinois Action for Children is a state and national leader in the early care and education community, distinguished by its "Strong Families, Powerful Communities" approach to child development, preschool education and other family and community supports. The AFC mission is to be a catalyst for organizing, developing and supporting strong families and powerful communities where children matter most.
o Prevention Initiative
Prevention Initiative works with children from birth to 3-years-old and their families to build a strong foundation for later school success. The goals of the Prevention Initiative blend well with the Mother Goose belief that preparing for success in elementary school begins at birth. Your child’s brain and body are growing rapidly during the first three years of life. He is learning many new things about the world around him. While all children need love and support to grow and learn, some children need a little extra help. An early intervention team can support your family and help your child reach his potential. Early Intervention is a statewide program that provides support and services for families to help their children under age 3 meet development milestones.
